Polypropylene Production
Lummus Technology offers the Novolen® polypropylene (PP) technology to produce a full range of high-quality polypropylene resins, including:
- Homopolymer (HP)
- Random copolymer (RCP)
- Terpolymer (tRCP)
- Impact copolymer (ICP) and reactor-thermoplastic polyolefin (rTPO)
Novolen PP technology is a gas-phase process with one or two vertically agitated Novolen ComPPact® reactor(s). Due to its inherent process design efficiencies derived from the unique reactor system, it delivers high reliability, low capital expenditure, low operating expenditure and low energy consumption, all leading to an extremely high economic return and net present value than alternative PP processes.
Novolen PP technology is the industry-preferred technology to produce polypropylene, and it can be well integrated with other leading technologies by Lummus Technology, such as steam cracking, CATOFIN® propane dehydrogenation or olefins conversion technology to extract synergies from a single licensor design capability.
Novolen PP based polypropylene products span a wide range of melt flow rates, stiffness and impact strength, providing the optimal balance of parameters for each processing technology and product application. As a technology company only, Lummus Technology makes available its broad and full range of products available for licensing.
In the Verdene™ PP configuration, the Novolen PP process can produce at world-scale virtually 100% bio-based polypropylene, with net-negative CO2 emissions by the sequestration of CO2 as carbon atoms in the polymer chain, to meet the demand for bio-based products.
