- Focused on hydroprocessing and catalyst R&D
- Provides “Bottom of the barrel” upgrading
- In partnership with, and owned and operated by Chevron
The technology center in Richmond, California – owned and operated by Chevron – is a leading research and development facility dedicated to advancing hydroprocessing and catalyst technologies in which Lummus Technology partners. With more than 75 years of operation, it plays a vital role in developing and testing the valorization of heavier crude fractions and of unconventional feedstocks.
The facility comprises expertise to take catalyst manufacturing to scale, state-of-the-art analytical capabilities, supports oil logistics, desalting, distillation and hydroprocessing, which are needed to speed optimized solutions to refinery or petrochemical scale. The facility was critical to the genesis of modern hydrocracking, resid desulfurization, resid hydrocracking, base oil hydrodewaxing, and crude-to-chemical processes.
