Lummus’ CDHydro® technology achieves selective hydrogenation of benzene to cyclohexane in a catalytic distillation column and uses proprietary catalytic distillation structures.
The unique catalytic distillation column combines reaction and fractionation in a single unit operation. The constant pressure boiling system assures precise temperature control in the catalyst zone.
Low reaction pressure and true counter-current operation results in high single pass conversions for both benzene and hydrogen. There is no requirement for a hydrogen compressor. The CDHydro process can be applied to hydrocarbon streams of low and high benzene content.
